Dual Point Estimation is built natively on Atlassian Forge for Jira Cloud. It requires zero external infrastructure or third-party server hosting, keeping all your data safely inside the Atlassian ecosystem.

Step 1: Install from the Atlassian Marketplace

  1. Log in to your Jira Cloud instance as an Administrator.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click Apps and select Explore more apps.
  3. Search for Dual Point Estimation in the marketplace search bar.
  4. Select the app from the search results and click Try it free to start your 30-day trial.
  5. Grant the requested permissions.

Step 2: Accessing the Issue Context Panel

Once installed, Dual Point Estimation adds an estimate panel to every Jira issue view:

  • Open any issue in your Jira project.
  • Under the issue details area (or in the right-hand panel, depending on your Jira issue layout), look for the Estimate panel (titled Dual Point Estimation).
  • If the panel is minimized, click on it to expand the timeline diagram and estimate breakdown.

No Complex Project Configuration Required

Dual Point Estimation works out of the box with your existing Jira projects, issue types, and statuses. You do not need to create custom fields or configure screen schemes. Estimates are stored securely using Jira Issue Entity Properties.

Step 3: Accessing the Global Estimates Page

In addition to the individual issue panel, Dual Point Estimation provides a full-page workspace for project-level planning, tracking, and retrospectives:

  1. In Jira's top navigation bar, click Apps.
  2. Select Dual Point Estimation.
  3. Select your desired Jira project from the Project dropdown in the filter bar.
  4. The app remembers your last selected project automatically and synchronizes your workspace and filter settings in the browser URL for easy bookmarking and sharing.
